How to answer it
This prompt is really asking: are you fun, do you commit to the bit, and what era is your heart from? Name the actual song and own your relationship with it. Enthusiasm outranks vocal ability by a mile — the shameless answer is the right one.
Example answers
“Mr. Brightside. I am legally required to.”
“Islands in the Stream — but I need a Dolly, and I need them committed.”
“I don't sing, but I am the best hype-person your rendition will ever have.”
What to avoid
- "I don't do karaoke" with no counter-offer — a door closed for no reason.
- Choosing something obscure to seem interesting. Karaoke is not the venue.
Why it works: It's a joy detector. Duet proposals are a real genre of first message, and this prompt manufactures them.
