Real and in-progress beats grand and vague.
How to answer it
Ambition is attractive; vagueness is not. Name a goal with edges — something you've actually started, saved for, or scheduled. It doesn't need to be huge. "Learning to sail this year" out-performs "see the world" because one is a plan and the other is a poster.

“Running a marathon before my knees file a formal complaint.”
“A tiny cabin with a big window and terrible phone signal.”
“Getting good enough at Italian to argue in it.”
What to avoid
- "Be happy" — a vibe, not a goal.
- A goals list so intense it reads as a syllabus.
Why it works: Concrete goals invite people into a story that's still being written — and "how's the Italian going?" is a perfect message three weeks in.
